91.3 WYEP is Pittsburgh’s public music radio station. My duties as their Digital Intern included:
• Filming and editing all live performances from visiting musicians in studio
• Used Adobe Suite to publish creative web content
• Contacting interviewees for broadcast programming
Being a public radio station, the budget for media production was miniscule. We filmed musical performances with three separate OSMOS Steadicams that were each connected to and controlled by my phone via a separate Wi-Fi signal. To get the closest shot to the performer, I was asked to strap a steadicam to the end of a broomstick and squat in front of the stage. While doing this, I had to cycle between each camera’s Wi-Fi signal to make sure that none of them were malfunctioning. This, combined with the high-pressure nature of live performance, made for a juggling act that was unlike any other filming experience until that point
